The 52,000 sq ft manufacturing building at Chess Plastics comprises of 21 modern plastic injection moulding machines ranging in tonnage from 500T up to 1400T. Our injection moulding services production schedule is 24 hours a day, 5 days a week, and this enables us to produce large quantities of components to meet your requirements across a range of product weights and sizes.

What Is Injection Moulding?
Injection moulding is a cost-effective way to create plastic components on a large volume basis. Although the initial set-up cost of designing and manufacturing a mould tool can be higher than for other processes such as rotational moulding, the quicker cycle time, durability, and repeatability of plastic injection moulding can reduce piece part costs compared to other plastic process methods.
In the process of injection-moulding, plastic pellets are melted and extruded through a heated chamber by a screw and then injected into a specialised mould. The part cools in the mould until it is solid enough to be ejected, either mechanically or by compressed air. Mould tools can be designed to have one or many cavities and, based on your specified requirements, we can help with tool design to meet your annual volume requirements.
Chess Plastics has invested in a variety of sophisticated gear ranging from 500T to 14300T and can optimise process settings and organise tool maintenance to ensure that your mould tool produces high-quality components that suit your specifications.
Injection moulding provides a wide range of materials and colour options. We can help with material selection, tool finishes such as polishes, surface textures, and cosmetics, as well as advise or match to any Pantone or RAL reference.
