Our Philosopy
Our whole purpose is to provide our customers with high quality plastic injection mouldings and associated services at a competitive price so that we can build long term relationships and retain your custom, which in turn enables us to further re-investment for our shared future.
Culture
Chess Plastics recognises the huge benefits of a great business culture for our customers, suppliers, employees and ultimately for the continued success of the business. In order to achieve this we believe that it is important to have a clear vision - ‘It is the aim of Chess Plastics to win and retain customers requiring injection mouldings by offering great value, quality and service’
As a privately owned family business started in 1967, we believe that to achieve this, we must listen to our customers, and react to their requirements. Chess Plastics has a flat company structure so that customers are looked after by a project manager who is a senior employee and that customer needs can be implemented quickly.
The core of our service is plastic injection moulding and so we are committed to investing in the latest plastic injection moulding machines along with CNC robot automation. We are still actively investing in new machinery with the latest technology to allow process optimisation, along with economic benefits. We feel strongly that customers need ‘product certainty’ and a ‘moulding solution’ and therefore we are maintaining and tailoring our range of 17 machines from 500T - 1300T.
People are a vital element of any business. We understand that attracting and retaining the best staff is important but we believe in ongoing training and as such we have undertaken a company wide lean training programme along with dedicated training schedules for individual departments such as technicians, maintenance and the apprenticeship scheme. Each year we host a work experience programme to encourage young people who are interested in the industry.
We believe that it is important to invest in MRP and IT systems to monitor, produce and inform and provide a culture of shared knowledge. We have invested in new machine monitoring software MATTEC which gives us real time information on each production item and operating efficiencies. Our new MRP system being implemented in 2015 communicates with customers and suppliers and enables real time stock through barcode scanning and the links with our monitoring software.
